Polish Students' Society of the
University of Ottawa

Here is a list of some of the events that the PSSUO has held in the past:

PSSUO @ 101 Week, Clubs Week, and International Culture and Development Week

PSSUO always starts off the year with a table promoting the club at 101 Week, the first week of September. Following this event, the club is set up again during Clubs Week, which is held the last week of September. Another clubs week follows in the winter semester, along with an International Culture & Development Week. At each one of these events, students can drop by the UCU and look at various Polish items on display, such as flags, books, and traditional dance costumes. Furthermore, students can revel in the amazing food that the Polish culture is known for. These events are a great chance for the PSSUO to mingle with other clubs and for the club to recruit some new members. So if you ever see our table, don't be afraid to drop by and say hi!

Eastern European Block Party @ 1848, University
Campus

In partnership with the Ukrainian Club, the PSSUO organizes the Eastern European Block Party every year in hopes of bringing all Eastern Europeans together. With the Bulgarian, Hungarian, Romanian, and Russian clubs in attendance as well, students can enjoy a night filled with European music at the university's campus bar, 1848. In addition to the extravagant night that awaits attendees, students can also enjoy European food and merchandise purchased in the Terminus in front of the bar. &

Quo Vadis

A few years ago, a small group
of students asked themselves a question in Latin: “Quo Vadis?”, in other words “where are we going?” as a vibrant, young Polish generation in Canada. To answer this question, they organized the first Quo Vadis Polish-Canadian Youth Leadership Challenge in 2009 which was held in Ottawa. The conference started a movement, which would lead to the hosting of a second conference the following year in Windsor, and then in 2011 in Toronto. The goal of Quo Vadis is to provide delegates with the tools for success needed for Poland’s greatest young leaders, and to provide them with opportunities to expand their networks and prospects. The forum builds bridges between youth of Polish descent and opens doors for greater cooperation and dialogue between students and young professionals with Polish backgrounds from all over the world. The PSSUO organized the first Quo Vadis conference in Ottawa, and has taken part in the instalments that have followed ever since. Check back in 2012 for more information about the next Quo Vadis conference.

FUOFA

Based on the concept of FIFA, FUOFA is an intercultural, indoor soccer tournament organized by the PSSUO that takes place in the Montpetit gyms right on campus. Its aim is to promote unity and friendship amongst the cultural clubs at the university by ways of a tournament where teams that represent a country of their choice play against one another in hopes of being named FUOFA Champions. The tournament is followed by an afterparty at 1848, the campus bys, to celebrate with the winning team, and to have all of the various members of the participating cultural clubs mingle and get to know one another.
